NB Summer Camp 2018
It has been 2 years since we conducted our last Summer Camp, and we can feel the excitement of the school children to attend this year's event. The aim of summer camp is towards creating a healthier New Barili by popularizing preventive measures, organizing fun awareness programs on various issues of health and hygiene to young children. Team NB targets the young children and youth in this awareness program because, children are the best medium to carry the message to their parents, family and other community members. At the same time they will be exposed to health programs and aware of the consequences of unhealthy living, how to prevent it and how to promote good health at an early age. It was FULL OF FUN AND LEARNINGS!

New Barili goes full-on organic as Team NB launched the Organic Farming Facility last May 31, 2018, which showcased the newly renovated building that now houses the Organic Concoctions and the barangay Vermicomposting Facility.
The event was attended by no less than our eager New Barili farmers, supportive Barangay Officials and partners from the Jose Rizal Memorial State University Tampilisan Campus Department of Extension Services, represented by Mr. Mario Layan, Mr. Noel Baylon, and Mr. Avelino Lozada. This project aims to not only encourage segregation and repurposing of farm wastes but also aims to promote healthier food options in the by encouraging sustainable organic farming and produce. DON’T PANIC, IT’S ORGANIC! 🌿 To ensure excellence in our health teachings to New Barili and to fortify our in-community “Organic Hub”, we, along with other community members underwent thorough training and studying and survived rigorous assessment to attain the National Certification II for Organic Agriculture Production.
Our Organic Hub consists of an Organic Farming Facility (for vermicomposting and concoction production), an Organic Community Garden and a lovely little Greenhouse for effective planting. Each of these are geographically situated in the heart of the community. With this Organic Hub we aim to address the nutrition status of children, provide effective fertilizers to the farmers at almost zero cost, encourage composting, provide a model organic facility for every household in New Barili and to boost livelihood by selling the vermicompost and increasing the quality of produce. New Barili deserves only the best! FUN TRIVIA: The certificates are printed on a very distinct paper from the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas. |
